Now what exactly is a PopTart?

PopTarts is a night of female-fronted pop bands and female songwriters...get it? ..tarts ...pop? A concept put together by Amanda Easton and helped out by Simon Morel, it brings together some of the best girl pop talent in Sydney...as well as attracting artists from all over Australia. It has also become a community of artists who support each other and share career opportunities. Check out the MySpace page and you'll see what we mean. You'll also find a full calendar of events there.

Contact: Amanda or Simon in Sydney. Contact Ron for PopTarts South in Melbourne. Visit PopTarts at Myspace and join in the community, as an artist or a music fan! In the meantime, there are plenty of PopTarts One Night Stands and other Tarts-related gigs happening - find out more here.

Going South!    Ron Brown - MMF board member and well-known and respected in the music industry as a successful music publisher, filmmaker and promoter - has taken the concept to Melbourne. Find out more about our Southern community at the PopTarts Melbourne Myspace page.

Tarting Where?   Its new home is at The Unity Hall Hotel, 292 Darling Street Balmain (opposite Woollies) in the inner west of Sydney . PopTarts has had more than six very successful years under its belt, but it doesn't end there...PopTarts has already started to take on the uni circuit, it's put together charity nights like the 'Tarts for Timor' series, we've had groups of PopTarts performing up and down the East Coast, with 'Tarts on Tour' and it has no plans to slow down! Check out the calendar for PopTarts regular showcases and One Night Stands and stay in the loop...

Who's Tarting? There are four to five different acts on each night, one or two usually in acoustic mode, the others as full bands, starting at 7:30pm. The nights are designed for artists to present the 'best' of their work, within a thirty minute time frame. We decided not to have a door charge so that the artists could get the biggest possible walk-in crowd and get the opportunity to build up their fan base. you'll usually see PopTarts host Amanda Easton performing and hosting on the first Monday of each month. So far we've had other artists and bands including: Robyn Loau, moneypenny, Morgana (ex-Nitocris) & the Monstars, Fyreflies, Ezmerelda, Yolanda Thomas, Amber Rees, Maz, Evelyn Duprai, Sarah Humphries, Jo Elms, Miss Little, Living with Amy, MEATBEE, Me-Lee's Mosaic, Silvana, butterfly 9, gilli moon, Sarah McGregor, Sandy Klose, Akradia and many more through the Tarts' doors..

Wanna Tart? If you want to be a PopTarts artist and perform a set as part of the showcase, contact amanda@amandaeaston.com, send a link via the MySpace Page or send your CD demo and bio to Amanda at: PopTarts, PO Box 907, Leichhardt, NSW 2040.

So what's this we heard about boys being part of PopTarts?! After PopTarts had been going for a while, the boys started to catch on and wanted to be a part of it! Because there were so many fabulous male pop performers in town, and the PopTarts concept was about forming a community - not leaving anybody out, we decided to create a  night especially for the boys. The name may be tongue-in-cheek but the artists and bands you'll see perform at this night, take their pop music very seriously. We've had some fabulous performers at this event, with acts including Nick Hardcastle, Lindsay Rimes, Russell Crawford, Michael Carpenter, Matt Cornell,  Simon Morel, Kieran Glasgow, Arnott, Darryl Beaton, Kitch, Jonah's Road, Kieran Lancini, Phil Barton and many more. Contact Simon Morel if you want more info about performing about PopStuds. Check the PopStuds schedule at our MySpace page and join our mailing list.
Tarts are on the Tele! Amanda and the girls from the PopTarts6 celebrations were recently on the tele. It screened as part of Paul McQueens 'Songwriters Across Australia' show on Friday June 20 at 8pm on Channel 31 in Sydney. This inspired us to create an entire PopTarts TV series - it's airing on TVS from October 7,2008 at 8:30pm, every week until the end of the year! If you don't have TVs, don't worry, we will be streaming from right here! check out the blog below...
